Tamborine Mountain is situated in the lush green countryside behind the golden beaches of the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. About 40 minutes driving through breathtaking scenery brings you 550 metres high to the unique rain forest area. You can look down to the see the Gold Coast buildings gleaming in the sunshine against a backdrop of the cool blue ocean, or at night be transported to a vision of coloured fairy lights with the moon shining on the breaking waves along the beach. People living in the western side of the mountain are treated to wonderful sunsets across the country and those on the eastern side can watch the sun come up over the ocean.
With 4 highways leading onto Tamborine Mountain (from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Canungra and Beaudesert) the meandering roads of the past become the route to a more relaxed lifestyle for the 6,000 plus self-sufficient community, which enjoys all the facilities of larger cities. We have our own library, theatre, several schools, council sub-office, bowls, a golf course, two gyms and a swimming pool, churches and holiday mountain cottages.
The hub of much activity 'Gallery Walk' is where you'll find wonderful al fresco (and indoor) cafes, serving fabulous food and coffee. Our wineries are havens to relax and watch the world go by as you savour local produce, or enjoy International and award winning silver service cuisine.
Across the Mountain, we have wonderful little shops crammed to the rafters with antiques, collectables and handcrafted goodies of all kinds from quilts to pottery, paintings to vintage wares.
We take pride in preserving the natural beauty of Tamborine Mountain and our Botanic Gardens and Rainforest Walks and Falls should be experienced. Our Garden Festival is held September/October annually, plus 3 times a year we hold the Craft Extravaganza, featuring works by the local community and artists from the surrounding areas.
In fact, there is so much to see and do, staying over is must. There are many comfortable and cosy B&B's and private cottages here, satisfying couples looking for romance, families who want to experience the mountain, or maybe you, taking a few days break enjoying the ambience we are lucky to enjoy all year round. Come up and see us soon!
